Contraindications to Permanent Makeup:

Permanent makeup cannot be performed on anyone pregnant or breastfeeding.

Permanent makeup cannot be performed on any traces of a sunburn and you will be rescheduled. Avoid all natural and artificial sun exposure for a minimum of 5-7 days before your appointment.

If you are required to take antibiotics before a dental visit, you must have written clearance from a doctor to determine if this will also be necessary for your permanent makeup procedure.

Botox, Dysport, or other neurotoxin injections must take place a minimum of two weeks before or after your permanent makeup appointment.

Accutane must be discontinued for a minimum of one calendar year.

Diabetes can lead to complications during the healing process and an increased risk of infection.

In cases of heart conditions or high blood pressure, please consult with your doctor if permanent makeup is safe for you as to avoid any unforeseen side effects, regardless of severity. If you have suffered from a mitral valve prolapse or have an artificial heart valve, you will also need to consult your doctor and take any necessary precautions prior to any permanent makeup treatment. Additionally, if you are required to take antibiotics before a dental visit, it may be necessary for your permanent makeup procedure.

If you have a compromised immune system or are undergoing treatment that can compromise your immune system, you must first consult your doctor, as a healthy immune system will aid in a smooth healing process. Treatment/medication/illness that compromises the immune system would not make you a good candidate for permanent makeup.

Immediately after your appointment, your brows may appear red, mildly puffy/swollen, and you may experience tenderness. This is normal. If these symptoms persist more than 2-3 days, along with an elevated body temperature, rash, or drainage from the area treated and you feel that you are experiencing a concerning reaction, seek medical attention. Consult a physician at the first sign of infection.

Once all flakes naturally slough off, your healing is complete. You may resume your regular beauty routine. You may notice that your brows appear significantly faded. This is to be expected as you have naturally exfoliated away the top layers of your brow area. Give the brows 2-4 weeks. As your skin settles, your pigment will become richer in color. You can expect to lose 50-60% of your pigment after the initial session. After your touch-up, you should retain more.

Be careful with harsh chemicals in your products. If you are unsure if a product is safe for your permanent makeup, reach out for guidance.

Made it through the contraindications? Keep reading about pre-care and post-care:

Following the pre-care and post-care instructions provided to you by your artist is essential to ensure you get the most out of your investment. The success and longevity of your permanent makeup is determined by the way you choose to treat your makeup after you have left my studio.

Pre-Care & Post-Care

Alcohol should be avoided 24-48 hours before your appointment. Alcohol consumption can lead to excessive bleeding, which will ultimately compromise your artist’s ability to perform and negatively impact your healed results.
If you use blood-thinning medications, you must let your artist know. This can lead to complications if I am not aware.
Discontinue the use of antibiotics for a minimum of 8 weeks.
Discontinue use of retinol/Retin-A, anti-aging, anti-acne, tightening, and brightening topical treatments in the brow area for 30 days if possible, as these products thin the skin.
Avoid deep chemical exfoliation (such as chemical peels) for at least two weeks.
Hair removal is not necessary or recommended before your appointment. This will allow your artist to get a clear picture of your natural growth so that the most natural and appropriate eyebrow is created for you.
Maintain realistic expectations about what is possible for your natural brow compared to your desired outcome. You are encouraged to share photos of styles you like during your consultation at the start of your appointment.

You can expect the healing process to take anywhere from 7-10 days. It isn’t until after your touch-up appointment that final results are achieved. This is a two-step process.
Immediately after your appointment, keep your brows clean and free from lymph while healing. This will look like clear beads of liquid sitting on the brows. Gently blot lymph away with a soft, disposable cotton round or tissue. Dried lymph leads to thick, hard scabs that can pull pigment. You will be instructed to wash your brows with mild soap 2x a day and apply a topical healing ointment that will be provided until exfoliation is complete.
Your brows will go through many phases that range in appearance from bold to dark, flaky, patchy, and even faded. Trust the process and the artist you have hired.

Immediately after your appointment, keep your eyes clean and free from tears and lymph while healing. This will look like clear liquid sitting on the skin. Gently blot lymph away with a soft, disposable cotton round or tissue. Dried lymph leads to thick, hard scabs that can pull pigment. You will be instructed to apply a topical healing ointment 2x a day that will be provided until exfoliation is complete.
You will find it soothing to use cold compresses on your eyes immediately after the treatment. I suggest using the cool compresses in 10 minute sessions for the first 24 hours.

You can expect the healing process to take anywhere from 4-7 days Any swelling should subside within 1-2 days. You can gently ice your lips in 10-minute increments to reduce the swelling, if you deem necessary.

Policies:

BOOKING: Symmetry operates by appointment only and does not accept walk-ins. All permanent cosmetics appointments require a touch-up within an 8-12 week period. Touch-up appointments are not included in initial pricing. This service is only bookable for *existing* clients of Symmetry.
Once you submit your appointment request for review, Symmetry will be in touch should there be any questions. If any of the contraindications to permanent makeup listed on this website apply to you, you must reach out to Symmetry directly (with ample time to discuss) prior to your appointment.

LATE ARRIVALS: If you are going to be late to your appointment, please notify Brittany as soon as possible via text or call at (308) 708-9244.
If you are going to be 15 minutes late or more, you will need to be rescheduled (unless previously arranged and confirmed with Symmetry) due to back-to-back appointments. There is little-to-no flexibility in between appointment slots and excessive lateness will affect each appointment following yours.

PETS & CHILDREN: Symmetry Permanent Cosmetics is regulated as a body art facility. Pets are not permitted inside the studio. Permanent makeup is detailed and involves concentration on my part and the ability for you to lay still for an extended period of time. Please make child care arrangements for young children as neither of us will be able to pay attention to them and their safety around sharp objects would be a concern.

PREVIOUS WORK: Any appointment to go over another artist’s work must first be approved by Symmetry prior to your appointment being accepted. Clear, close-up photos of your bare brows must be sent to 308-708-9244 to be considered. Corrective work over previous PMU on lip blush/neutralization is not offered. Depending on the state of your previous work, I may or may not be able to work on the area. It is a case-by-case basis.
